Teeth in a Day Q & A

What is teeth-in-a-day?

Teeth-in-a-day is an outpatient procedure that replaces your missing permanent teeth with dental implants. Dental implants are titanium posts that provide a base for crowns or implant-retained dentures. They fuse with your jawbone, offering a more durable alternative to dentures.

Traditionally, getting dental implants took several appointments spaced over six months. Teeth-in-a-day is an innovative technology that prevents the need for bone grafting, providing a more convenient and less involved treatment process.

What are the benefits of teeth-in-a-day?

Teeth-in-a-day offers various benefits, including:

  • Clearer speech
  • Easier biting and chewing
  • Confidence
  • Convenience
  • Durability

Teeth-in-a-day can even improve your oral health. Replacing extracted or damaged permanent teeth with implants can reduce the risk of other issues, like bone loss and gum recession.

What does getting teeth-in-a-day involve?

If Dr. Freeman determines that you’re a candidate for teeth-in-a-day, he numbs your mouth with a local anesthetic and carefully inserts a series of immediate-load dental implants into the empty sockets where your teeth used to be. Dr. Freeman places the implants at precise angles to make the most of your available bone. As a result, there’s no need for bone grafting.

After placing the implants, Dr. Freeman covers them with temporary prosthetics that look like your natural teeth. The prosthetics allow you to bite, chew, and smile confidently. You wear the temporary prosthetics for three or four months until the implants finish fusing with your jaw.

When the fusion process is complete, you visit Dr. Freeman for a checkup. He performs an oral exam and takes a series of digital impressions. Dr. Freeman sends your impressions to a dental lab that creates a set of custom implant-supported dentures.

When the lab finishes your custom dentures, you visit Dr. Freeman for a final time, and he replaces your temporary prosthetics with them.

How long do teeth-in-a-day last?

If you practice good oral hygiene, teeth-in-a-day often last a lifetime.* To keep yours in optimal condition, Dr. Freeman recommends brushing and flossing twice daily, visiting the office every six months for professional teeth cleaning, and wearing a mouthguard to protect your implants if you play contact sports, like hockey or football.
